FAQs

Is your meat halal?

Yes, all of our meat is halal. To find out more please visit our Halal and Tayyab section

What does "halal" mean?

Halal, derived from the Arabic word for "permissible," holds significance in Islamic dietary laws. For more information read our blog on understanding halal meat

How do you ensure the meat is halal?

We work with trusted suppliers who provide us with regular slaughter certificates. They have batch codes and slaughter codes which match the corresponding delivery and abattoir. Imported meat has the same process but tends to have longer shelf life because of the incredibly sophisticated packaging it comes in. Take a USDA ribeye steak for example; when it comes in as a whole roast, it can have a 6-month shelf life. If it is unpackaged and cut, the shelf life drops down to around 2 weeks. So a halal certificate from the USA might be from 6-months prior, but will still be valid.

What meat products do you offer?

Do you offer organic or grass-fed options?

All of our British beef and lamb is free-range and grass-fed. Most Wagyu is raised free-range but does not have certification or cannot be labelled as such because the rules and regulations are different abroad. USDA Beef we purchase is free to roam, so again would fall as free-range in the UK but doesn't have certification as such.

How is the meat packaged and delivered?

All of your meat will be vacuum packed straight out of a 2C fridge, labelled and put into an insulated foil liner. A 1-litre ice pack is added and then the liner is sealed. It's placed into a double walled insulated box, with eco-friendly packing peanuts and then sealed shut with tape. This results in 48-hour temperature control, and up to 72-hour temperature control in winter. We use DPD Next Day Courier Service to deliver so you will be emailed a timeslot on the day of delivery.

What is the shelf life of your meat products?

It will vary from product to product, but usually once the seal is broken you will need to consume within 3 days.
